Golf course construction has many
regulations linked to it. With the construction, many times wetland areas
are damaged or disturbed, making mitigation mandatory. Like other
developers, they are subject to section 404 and 401 of the Clean Water Act and
must obtain the necessary permits. Since many golf course locations
include streams, they also must worry about permits to comply with the Stream
Bed Alteration Agreement. Also, fertilizers and other pollutants
frequently are discharged by golf courses, they also are required to obtain a
NPDES permit.
Huffman & Carpenter, Inc. is
well versed in all permitting processes and can help construction move forward
efficiently. Since the company also has experience with mitigation designs
and construction of mitigation wetlands, it is possible to integrate the design
of the golf course with the wetland mitigation needs. Huffman &
Carpenter, Inc. has also worked with golf course architects to deal with
issues such as water runoff and drainage issues.
