Lakeside River Park, San Diego, California
7Q10 began the Lakeside River Park project in June of 2004, with completion in October of 2007. The overall purpose of Lakeside’s River Park is to create habitat, provide for flood control, conduct river restoration and groundwater recharge.
7Q10 is directly responsible for the following tasks:
- Accurate definition of wetland habitat areas lying within Lakeside’s River Park boundaries.
- Preparation of a comprehensive Restoration Plan based on a variety of accepted engineering, hydrologic, and hydraulic studies;
- Assistance in acquisition of the necessary permits to implement the Restoration Plan; and
- Provision of construction oversight for general contracting services necessary for implementation of the Restoration Plan.
- Removal of a constriction located at the eastern edge of the project area, just west of the Channel Road Bridge;
- Excavation and creation of a transitory retention basin;
- Redesign of the Los Coches Creek discharge point to slow and redirect flows toward the transitory retention basin; and
- Establishment of low-flow river meanders and creation of aquatic, riparian, riverine, and/or upland habitat types typical to a Southern California river system throughout the entire project site.
- Construction of a surface water treatment wetland and a rapid infiltration basin near the Riverview Water District well field.
