Erosion and sediment control

Services

Why is it important to control erosion and sediment?

Erosion refers to the removal of sediment, soil, rock and other particles.  Erosion is a natural process, and a certain amount of erosion is natural and, in fact, healthy for the ecosystem. For example, gravels continuously move downstream in watercourses. Excessive erosion, however, does cause problems, such as receiving water sedimentation, ecosystem damage and outright loss of soil. Erosion may be increased by human land use, and poor land use practices would include deforestation, overgrazing and unmanaged construction activity and road building. The negative impacts and complexities of erosion are becoming more serious due to climate change and increased precipitation.

As a contractor, developer, builder, and/or engineer, your project may be in violation of a National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, if a sediment discharge is occurring on your job site. Here at 7Q10, we have certified professionals in erosion and sediment control (CPESC’s) who can help.

  • Revegetation and Hyrdoseeding
  • Rapid Dust Control for Roadways or Projects
  • National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permits
  • Construction site ingress/egress recommendations
  • Rapid Assessment and Mitigation of Post-Fire Impacts
  • SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans)

7Q10 has considerable experience with Erosion and Sediment Control.  They have pioneered the use of soil glues, and have implemented innovative solutions in a number of projects including the use of vegetated coir logs and grade control structures.
